Krispy Kreme (Lagos Airport)| Donuts & Coffee Review

Here’s a little story of how a flight delay inspired me to taste krispy kreme donuts for the first time.

In typical Nigerian airline fashion, Dana air delayed my flight. And I was seated directly in front of the little donut shop at the airport. The smell of the donuts did not let me be, and each time I glanced at the shop, it looked like the queue was longer than the last time. I kept telling myself “No donuts today” because “fit fam” but in the end, the donuts won?. So, wandered in to give it a try. This was my very first Krispy Kreme experience, ever! Since they don’t have an outlet in Abuja. Let’s get down to the review.

Krispy Kreme may not be your stop for healthy food, but if you want delicious donuts and a good cup of coffee then this is the place for you.

Cafe Mocha with extra whipped cream – 2200

I’m such a sucker for coffee, cold or hot. And Krispy Kreme did not disappoint. The mocha is 2k, the whipped cream costs an extra 200. I absolutely loved it. The whipped cream was sweet but not too sweet. On the first sip of the coffee, I noticed a mixed rich taste of coffee and chocolate. The flavors were very pronounced and properly balanced, as one did not overpower the other. The coffee was perfect.

Half dozen original glazed box – 2500

This is hands down one of the best donuts I’ve eaten, in terms of the quality, then you’re sure to get your money’s worth. The donut was light and extra fluffy. You experience that MELT IN YOUR MOUTH feeling on the first bite. The size was small, but every bite was worth it. I prefer the sugar-coated donuts to the original glaze because you can control the amount of sugar you get with the sugar-coated ones by simply dusting off the sugar. To be honest, It was slightly on the sweet side for me, but my 7-year-old cousin devoured it within seconds!!

FUN FACT:

Ever wondered if you could travel with a box of Krispy Kreme donuts? The answer is yes! Lots and lots of people kept entering the donut shop and coming out with boxes of donuts to catch their flights.

AMBIANCE

The space was small, but they made very good use of it. There was a small sitting area, where you can have your donuts or coffee, just enough for about 6 people at a time. it was nicely decorated as well. nothing over the top though.

SERVICE:

The staff was agile and ready to serve. They greeted me with a smile, which is a plus because I like to feel welcome. It was very busy in the coffeehouse and there was a bit of a queue, but once it was my turn, I was attended to within minutes. pretty smooth service.

I would be sure to get a dozen assorted donuts next time, so I can give you my opinion on which is best ?. Time to go make my daily 2k, so I can try some more flavors! ?‍♀️
